Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Arabic part (lot)?

A mathematical point usually derived as "Ascendant + planet A − planet B". It is not a physical body; it is read as the focal point of a specific life theme in the chart.

How is the Part of Fortune calculated?

By day: Ascendant + Moon − Sun; by night the formula reverses to Ascendant + Sun − Moon. Day or night is decided by whether the Sun is above or below the horizon.

Why does the day/night rule matter?

Classical sources reverse many lot formulas for night births; skipping the rule can misplace a lot by up to 60 degrees. Maxis applies each lot’s reversal rule per the classical sources.

Which lots are calculated?

Twenty-five classical lots, led by the Parts of Fortune and Spirit, covering themes such as marriage, children, career and illness — each listed with its formula and exact degree.
