Frequently Asked Questions
What is annual profection? ›
An ancient timing technique in which the chart advances one house per year of life: age 0 is the 1st house, age 1 the 2nd, and the cycle restarts at age 12. The active house sets the year’s agenda.
What is the year lord (time lord)? ›
The planet ruling the sign of the profected house — considered the "executor" of the chart for that year. Its natal condition and its transits that year carry extra weight.
Which tradition does profection come from? ›
It is among the oldest timing techniques, described in Hellenistic sources such as Vettius Valens, and has returned to wide use with the revival of traditional astrology.
How do profections combine with transits? ›
First find the profected house and its lord; then watch transits to that lord. The same transit weighs far more when it lands on the year lord.
